My foot is feeling a bit better today. Not enough of an improvement from day to day to keep me happy, but I'm wondering what exactly that would take at this point? Not sure. Anyways, I'm hanging in there! I'm anxious to get back to boxing as well, since I'm out of that too, until the stitches are removed. Or at least until this gash heals up some more!

I found your blog today and I have to say thanks for keeping up with it. I am scheduled for ankle reconstruction in late september. I am so scared. Although mine wont be as indepth as yours (my heal is ok) it gave me a idea of what to expect. So thanks so much and best wishes in your recovery!!!

I was searching for how people handled getting their screw removed from their ankle and I came across your blog. It's perfect. Every other answer was from people who fractured their ankle and had hardware. Not one was from someone who had ligament and tendon reconstruction and had a screw put in their heel. I've decided (five years later) to have the screw removed in my heel most likely. It's not that painful at all, except for if I run too much or if I walk around all day - sit, and then try to get up and walk (impossible with the heel pain).

Did you find your hardware removal worth it? I've had 4 ankle reconstructions, two on each, this this screw is my only hardware. The last one was when I was 20 and harder to bounce back from. It was either due to a second surgery over my last one - or just being older. I'm a little nervous about getting this screw out and being thrown out of comission again for a month.

Any other info you can give me on your actual recovery time before you were working again, or out and about would be very helpful in me deciding anything.

Thanks!

Thanks for your blog. I'm scheduled for a lateralizing calcaneal osteotomy, a peroneus long to brevis transfer and 1st, 2nd, 3rd tarsometatarsal joint fusion. I'm terrified and excited. I haven't read much of your blog, but I'm thrilled to see you are doing okay. I want to weep thinking about not biking for ?? months and the pain that is coming. But knowing you survived is helpful. Thanks again.
